Matt Lawrence

Matt Lawrence is a Grammy-winning producer, engineer and mixer who has worked with many of the most influential artists in the world. Most of his time is now split between mixing and production, much of this at his studio in London Bridge.

Cutting his teeth working with some of the finest musicians at Van Morrison’s studio was a great start to any recording industry career. After working on seven Morrison albums a move to London’s Metropolis studios was the next logical step. Twelve years there, six as the Chief Engineer, has given Matt a rare grounding in all aspects of making records from the very oldest first principles to operating at the cutting edge of technology; Matt was part of the team to do the first direct to vinyl cut in 20+ years and also one of the first live internet concert mixes!

Matt Lawrence and FabFilter

"I started using FabFilter plug-ins a few years ago when it kept arriving on sessions that I was due to mix. I used to remove it and replace with others but there was often a certain something missing. Pro-Q 2 is a very versatile EQ, the ability to solo bands is so useful!"
