Kevin Madigan

"I’ve had a love of music and sound since an early age. I can remember listening to the Beatles on the Walkman which was the latest greatest new thing then back then. My uncle and aunt brought one over to Ireland from the US when I was about 10 years old. I was being astonished at what I heard. It all moved on from there. I started playing acoustic guitar, moving on to electric guitar. My musical tastes were opening up from classical to Led Zeppelin."

"I was interested in somehow working in music but pursued an education in science first. After studying I ended up working in acoustics. I managed to gain some extensive first hand audio gear experience along the way from friends, local companies and venues/clubs. In the nights and weekends I did many small live and recording/mixing gigs, slowly graduating to larger scale stuff. During the day I was working in acoustics consultancy. We measured noise and designed room for sound isolation, like studio control rooms and TV soundstages etc. Somewhere along the way the part time mixing and full time acoustic consultant gigs swapped places, and I've been working as a FOH mix engineer ever since."

"I've been very fortunate to work with a wide range of clients in diverse musical genres in studios and on tour including: Santana, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Neil Young,David Gilmour, Ray LaMontagne, Lana Del Rey, Smashing Pumpkins,Peter Wolf, Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead), Mastodon, Lucinda Williams, Eels."

"Recently I have been mixing for Santana and we worked with Dolby to implement a large scale Atmos system for our residency in Las Vegas. That required re-thinking mix choices and a lot of pre-production. It was a very successful collaboration and a unique immersive experience for our audiences."

Kevin Madigan and FabFilter

"I first heard about FabFilter from Bernie Grundman while mastering a Crosby, Stills and Nash live recording. Then from Manny Marroquin. Bernie is one of the most respected people in the mastering and Manny is the same in mixing. I thought that with both of these recommendations they must be worth checking out. They were right."
