Dave Spoon

Dave Spoon started making electronic music at school after growing up with two great record collections courtesy of his parents. He would listen to anything electronic: Ultravox, Depeche Mode, Yazoo and even Jean Michel Jarre! At the age of 12, Dave had access to gear like an Akai S950, Notator, M1, Juno 60 and even a 303 and learned to program step drums on a 606 all in the school studio. "In 1990 I was heavily influenced by the early UK Rave stuff and sampling breaks but always kept an eye on house music. Drum & bass was my thing until 1995 when I heard Sasha's Essential Mix on Radio 1 which changed everything for me". Influences in Dance music include Liam Howlett, Orbital, Stuart Price amongst many others. "I'm a huge Damon Albarn fan too, and love a lot of new bands. Life is a 'current project'! Music is always ongoing of course and new things are developing all the time. I have my label Televizion, and I still release music through Toolroom in the UK. Always looking to try new things."

Dave Spoon and FabFilter

"Adam 'Funkagenda' Walder showed me the FabFilter stuff and I was blown away! I've been using FabFilter Timeless a lot since, and love Simplon. They can be heard in all my new music, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone (for live performance too)."

"Just getting into using the FabFilter Twin 2 too. I use Reason for a lot of synth stuff but I can see that changing in the future! The synth-line that appears at the end of my remix of Beyonce's 'Sweet Dreams' is Twin 2."
