Cubase 5 x64 + Windows 7 x64, VST3 recognition
I purchased Twin2, Volcano2 and Timeless2 about a month ago and recently installed Cubase 5 x64 on my new Windows 7 x64 machine.
Everything has been working dandily in with the VST2 plug-ins, but I am having the damnedest time trying to get my VST3 FabFilter plug-ins to show up in Cubase 5.
I've tried copying them directly to: C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase 5\vst3
That didn't work.
Currently they're located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3 (which is where they installed by default, AND where they worked perfectly and showed up in Cubase 4)
Call me a noob for being a bleeding-edge early adopter (heck, I have the MSDN release of Windows 7 RTM)... but I'd like to help make this work.
Are there any registry settings I can modify to make Cubase 5 recognize my VST3 plug-ins?
I'll keep tinkering, but any insights you all have would be great!
TWIN2ROCKS!!!!

Also,
Cubase 5 doesn't recognize the Stereo version of Volcano 2... :wtf:
I'll keep tinkering...
Okay, I had a hunch it was Cubase 5 x64 related.
I installed the regular version of Cubase 5 and now all the VST3 versions and the stereo version of volcano VST2 are working perfectly.
I should have just searched for 64 bit support...
Any plans on 64bit support? Or maybe I can bug Steinberg to improve the VSTBridge in Cubase 5 x64... since that is what fails... it has a hard time bridging some 32bit plugins to 64bit.
Hi Adam,
Yes, 64bit versions of all our plug-ins are in the pipeline. But of course, please do tell steinberg that they should improve their bridging support! Of course, all our 32bit plug-ins should work properly...
Best,
Indeed, as shown on the Steinberg forums the SB bitbridge is pretty bad, and they are not planning to improve this since they are not seeing this as a problem, but a problem of plugin developers.
Must be hard to do business with ignorant people like that.. Oh well there are also third party bridges that work flawlessly.
