Why do I see two FF plugin choices in my DAW

I've installed FF plugins in different instances -- once in a bundle and then individual ones at different times.

When I access my plugins inside my DAW (Studio One 6.5) I see two FF choices of the same product -- let's use for instance Pro Q3

To access ProQ3 plugins, I can select one of the following

1) FabFilter Pro-Q 3
2) Pro-Q 3

Which of these should I be choosing?

The two plug-ins you are seeing are different formats. The one with the FabFilter prefix is the VST2 version. The one without is the VST3 version or the AU version.

Steinberg discontinued VST2 so we advise to use the version without the "FabFilter" in the name. Alternatively you can delete this version from your plug-in folder to avoid confusion in the future.

darn. i should have paid attention to my second round of downloads when I bought some new FF plugins. The download behavior has all plugin types checked off. Users have to pay attention to that.

So when I started using my DAW again, I saw the Fabfilter all spelled out. It tricked me. So now I have about 30 songs with VST2s.

Hopefully it's not hard to move content from a VST2 setting to a VST3 one.
