Side chaining Pro Q4 in Pro Tools 2023.6
Hi all.
I am missing the side chain control buttons in the top right of my plugin window Pro Q4. I description I got from someone to achieve this goes here:
Insert Pro-Q 4 on the track where you want to apply dynamic spectral sidechain (for example, your bass track).
🔑 2. Enable Sidechain Input
At the top of the plugin insert slot in Pro Tools, you'll see a small key icon (🔑next to the Pro-Q 4 name.
Click this icon to enable external sidechain input.
This little key icon is not visible. Therefore I cannot activate side chaining in my plugin, therefore my eq is working permanently, instead of only when being triggered by the side chain signal. Side chaining doesn't work.
I set the eq band to spectral & dynamic, set linear phase and in the freq band control panel, the little side chain button is activated. It all seems to boil down to the little key icon missing in the insert slot of my pro tools mixer. I have Pro Tools 2023.6 and Google's AI told me that this little icon should be available in my Pro Tools version. It's not there however.
Can anybody enlighten me on how to get the side chain controls and switches visible in the top right of my Pro Q4? I bet it requires the little key icon to be activated in my insert slot of my PT mixer, as told in the description above, but it is not there.
Where to go from here? Anybody? Thanks in advance.
The FF help file says "Open FabFilter Pro-Q 4's interface and choose the 'Side Chain' item from the external spectrum list".
I can't seem to find that list however. There is a little key icon at the top left of its window but nothing happens when I click it. Where do I find the external spectrum list? And does that enable side chaining?
Problem solved. False alarm. I had my eq point permanently at -12 dB, should have been zero. The spectral dynamic setting ducks the sound on the incoming side chain signal. Thanks everyone for reading :-)
