EQ match sounds terrible. What am I doing wrong?

Using Fabfilter 3 in Ableton

I have two basslines, that I would like to EQ match.

This is the process I'm going through I will call them Bassline 1 and Bassline 2

Bassline 1 - Side chain input set to Bassline 2

I go to the analyser dropdown in Fabfilter Bassline 1.
I select spectrogram of Bassline 2. I think click EQ match, I then go to the drop down menu and put EQ match Bassline 2.

The EQ matching I'm getting is beyond insane, and the sound is awful. What am I doing wrong?

I'm using Pro-Q4, but have reported the same type of issue

I have a piano track. I made a reference from that track, and then attempted to EQ match the track to itself.

My expectation was it would do nothing, but on the contrary, the possibilities offered by the draw bar for adding bands are way out of any semblance of anything that sounds good.

Hoping I'm not missing something either, but this doesn't seem right.
