Pro-Q4 EQ match
I think I'm missing something here.
Allow me to explain
I have a piano that I have dialed in juuuuuuuussssst right!
I want other pianos to sound like this, so I go in, have Pro-Q4 analyze the track, and from that I make a reference.
For grins and giggles, I put that reference against the file I generated it from. When I say "match", and depending on where I put the slider, I get a result that significantly changes the sound of the piano. Not what I was expecting
What am I missing here?

Hi Pete,
Currently EQ-Match doesn't implement a very intelligent level compensation so it is possible on sources that have very different levels EQ-Match also starts compensating for the level mismatch, adding extra gain on one or multiple bands.
I'd be curious to hear it in this case! Could you send us two small test files to match so we can see what happens?
Please send it to info@fabfilter.com and we'll have a look.
Without level matching, how can the EQ match really match? I also get really funky and unusable results from EQ match. In comparison the Reference plugin has level matching and displays a credible match/ difference for adjusting EQ/ balance.
So far the EQ Match has been a disappointing experience.
