Copy settings of Q3 to Q4 in PT?

Hi,

I'm finishing up a project in Pro Tools that would have profited hugely from Q4's abilities and am wondering if it was somehow possible to switch from Q3 to Q4 somehow fast.

i don't seem to be able to copy and paste between the two, i guess as they are totally different plugins, correct?

i wish there was some magical way to change all Q3 instances and automation!

You can only use Pro-Q 3 presets in Pro-Q 4 if you are using the plug-ins internal preset browser. In that case you will see them in a V3 folder in the preset list of Pro-Q 4, which will have all your Pro-Q 3 presets.

If you are using the preset browser of your host you will not be able to load Pro-Q 3 presets in Pro-Q 4, as the browser simply sees them as individual plug-ins. In that case you'll have to manually load a preset in Pro-Q 3, save it in preset browser of Pro-Q 3 and then load the preset in Pro-Q 4 from the v3 folder.

Hope that clears it up. If you have any more questions, just let us know!

Did this and it worked. But I have to restart Cubase 14 everytime after saving a preset in Pro Q3. Q4 will not recognize the saved presets before.

Instead of restarting you can refresh the preset browser in Pro-Q 4 from the little Gear icon.

Hmm, frustrating situation! Unfortunately, a direct "switch" between Pro Tools versions like Q3 and Q4 isn't possible due to project compatibility changes. Perhaps you could explore bouncing stems from Q3 and importing them into a new Q4 project? It's a workaround, but might salvage some of your work.

That's not correct. With the latest version of Pro-Q 3 you can now copy and paste settings over to Pro-Q 4 without saving as a preset.
