Pro-Q4 Instance List missing feature
Hello guys, first of all I want to say that the V4 of Pro-Q is amazing, the added features are great! However there are some things you could consider in the future updates.
1) The Instance List could be improved by adding simple grouping of channels to be able to EQ several tracks at the same time (for example 4 tracks of guitars left and right+doubles, 4-16 tracks of background vocals etc.), copy from one instance to many instances and global saturation and mode setting (similar to how it works in Console 1 for example where you can group pretty much anything and eq even 80 tracks at the same time if you need to + copy from one track to 20 other tracks and change the saturation on many tracks at the same time).
2) Spectral dynamics is adding a lot of latency and there should be an option to reduce is further than a "low" setting, which is still adding quite a lot of audible latency. Maybe consider natural-phase mode for spectral dynamics as an option? Or even zero-latency
3) EQ sketch could be more responsive and accurate to the mouse gestures - it seems to lag a lot and create not exactly what you want to - in the current form it's faster to add the eq points manually instead of drawing the curve and needing to correct everything. You could use some alt or shift to quickly switch between lowcut-bell-low shelf while drawing from the left to the right and a mouse wheel to determine the Q factor quickly if you want to correct it while drawing - that could help a lot!
Hi Hubert,
There are indeed loads of features to further improve the instance list, like controlling multiple instances simultaneously. We've definitely considered this. However, we also wanted to really release this plug-in. If we would have implemented every feature we would like we would still be programming for half a year :-) But we'll keep developing the instance list.
Spectral processing is a linear phase process by default. It would not be possible in natural phase or zero latency. Unfortunately that comes with the downside of the latency caused by linear phase processing.
EQ sketch has a bit of a learning curve to it. The more you do it, the better you can make your curves. It's also not meant to make the perfect curve right out of the box. It's intended to roughly make the bands you want real fast, and finetune them later.
