In general, spectral processing in Soothe is based on the same principle, but it approaches it quite differently. In Pro-Q 4, spectral processing is encapsulated within a band so it works almost the same as regular dynamic EQing which lets you narrow down the region to work on in a very intuitive way.

Very interesting feature. If one made the band wide enough, then, is the behavior comparable to that of Soothe? Or it's a different kind of algorithm?

I'm very sure Soothe doesn't use the exact same algorithm so there are bound to be differences. And Soothe lets you EQ the side chain, while we achieve this by band-limiting the input by the band shape itself. That's quite a fundamental difference.
