Pro Q3 purchased 11 days ago.

Hello, I bought Pro Q3 on November 30. Pro Q4 will be launched on 12th, so I don't know if I could ask for a refund or if I will get the Pro Q4 for free or paying a smaller amount of money.

Thank you.

Looks like we're in the same boat! I also purchased the FF Total Bundle on November 29, and I'm eagerly waiting for a response to your post. Looking forward to seeing the solution or insight that will be shared here.

Same here. Finger-crossed.

No one knows before tomorrow.

Hans

Same here.

I also bought the FabFilterFX bundle today and was wondering if I'll be able to upgrade for free. Looks like there was a two month grace period for the Q3 update, but yeah, fingers crossed.

Harald Katary

Here to ask the same question. Is there a grace period for purchase with free upgrade to the new version?

Grant Goddard

Bought the essentials bundle on 29th November and also hoping there is some sort of grace period.

Adam Hammond

I also bought 3 hours before they posted on YouTube hahah. Fortunately, support told me they have 3 months of grace period so we will get a free upgrade!

When we release a new version of a plug-in we always offer a grace period. For Pro-Q 4 the grace period is 2 months (sorry not 3, I was wrong). Everybody who purchased Pro-Q 3 or a bundle containing Pro-Q 3 within 2 months before the release of Pro-Q 4 have received a free upgrade in their account automatically.

For everybody else who has purchased a license for Pro-Q 3 we have a special upgrade price with at least a 50% discount. When you have more of our plug-ins this discount will be even higher. You can purchase the Pro-Q 4 upgrade license directly from your personal upgrade offer on your account page.

If you have more questions please let us know.

Ralph (FabFilter)

Hi Ralph, thanks for the clarification. However on my personal upgrade offers, I do not see a free upgrade.

Sorry, ignore the above post. I pasted it by mistake.

That's very good news, I bought it at Plugin Boutique, should I wait for an official announcement?

Takumi

Now I see an upgrade, thanks!

Eren Utku

That's a very nice policy. Thanx a lot!

Patrik Rydberg

Thank you so much for such a graceful policy - got Q4 as a free upgrade as well, I didn't expect that :D

much love

Merlin Druzinec

I still only see a 50% discount... should I just wait for this?

Takumi

I wish all companies had these pro-consumer policies. I already have the upgrade to Pro Q4 installed and working.

Thanks for the response Ralph.

I bought pro bundle on 12/2 but don’t see free upgrade option yet. Do I just download it and the same license will work automatically? When I go to checkout it’s showing full price

Jason Shelburne

Disregard please got an email - found it in Junk:)

Jason Shelburne

Thank you for such a smooth and seamless upgrade experience. I really appreciate it, and I'm grateful for how you've continued to improve an already exceptional product.

2 months seems kind of weak. Better than nothing but still weak.
Seems like it should be graduated upgrade percentage for the first year or so.
A person that bought 3-6 months ago is in the same boat as a person that has been using the plugin for 4-5 years.
As a casual user it seems a bit steep.

You could make the early adopter argument, best to jump in when the plugin first comes out to get the most value from it. <- True statement.

But as a person that jumped into the fabfilter ecosystem in the last year, I feel like I am almost rebuying.

Non the less, a graduated % scale based on "time owned" would've been nice. But that would require adding the programming of code, API's & logic into the website, shop and accounts. Which I can testify is not cheap.

I don't think I made a good argument one way or the other.

This is more a customer feedback/request for a graduated via "time owned" post. So future fabfilter noobies don't feel the same way I do.
