Pro-C 2 side chain issues in Logic Pro X

Hello, I recently updated my entire setup and this is what I am running:

Macbook Pro 16" M1 Max
Ventura 13.0 (shipped with)
Logic Pro X 10.7.6
All my FF plugins are up to date

The issue is when side chaining there is an audible knock (or pop) whenever the compressor is triggered.

This does NOT happen when Pro-C 2 is first inserted onto the channel strip and I'm dialling in my settings (including lookhead) WHILE playback in playing. It's smooth until I stop playback but now the issues start when I press play again, now the knocking sound starts.

Essentially you get clean playback once and once only.

This is extremely frustrating and it's happening in every session, new or old, running natively or through Rosetta... I've tried everything I can think of to trouble shoot the issue and I've had no luck. I'm unsure if it is a FF issue or a Logic issue but any guidance would be appreciated.

P.s This issue doesn't occur on my late 2015 MBP running a really old version of Logic.

Cheers!

Paul

Hi Paul,

This sounds like a delay compensation issue within Logic. Logic does not compensate for plug-in delays on the fly, it only does so when the project is not playing.

Do you get the same issue when you insert and setup Pro-C 2 when transport is not running?

Delay compensation of the side-chains has been an issue for quite a while now in Logic. There has been an update of Logic a few years back where the release note said they resolved the issue, but we've heard lots of issues where the compensation of side-chain busses are still not correct.

Could you send us a copy of the project with the issue to info@fabfilter.com, so we can have a look?

Thank you, Ralph. I have sent an email with a session for you to look at.

Cheers!

Paul
