v1 Presets folder missing in Saturn 2

I just installed the demo of Saturn 2. I saw in one of the review videos that I'm supposed to be seeing v1 presets in Saturn 2, but I'm not seeing them (see 6:40 in this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vclc3ZPxTlc).

I've confirmed the v1 presets are in the same default location as the v2 preset folder—User Folder/Library/Audio/Presets/Fab Filter on Mac, but I'm not seeing the v1 Preset Folder as shown in that video. I can open v1 presets if I choose Options > Open Other Preset, but I like the convenience of having the presets there automatically.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks.

Hi Jeff,

It is indeed possible to access the presets of Saturn 1 preset folder from Saturn 2. They should be available then you manually copy the Saturn folder to the FabFilter folder you mentioned above. It could be the DAW needs a restart after you places the new presets.

If it does not work, you could also try to simply run the Saturn 1 installer. This should place the correct presets in the right location.

Please let me know if this resolves your issue.

Thanks, Ralph. I tried all of that, and also downloading the default factory presets on the Legacy Installers page, but none of those worked.

I think the issue was that I used the total bundle installer and selectively installed just the plugins I own, but I finally reinstalled the total bundle and installed everything and that ended up working.

Thanks for the help!

None of these suggestions work for me. I have both Saturn 1 and 2 installed and all the presets are in place for both plugins when the plugins are loaded directly. However V1 presets are still not available in V2 preset menu. I noticed this to be the case for all of my newer versions of FF plugs.

Texas

Hi Texas,

Starting with the updates from December 2021, we've moved the default preset location from the user library to the Documents folder. The location we used earlier had some permissions issues for a lot of users.

It's possible that your newer plug-ins use the preset location in Documents, while the older plug-ins use the Library location. They may result that the old V1 folder is not visible. You can manually copy the Saturn 1 presets found in the User Library (User/Library/Audio/Presets/FabFilter) and paste them in your Saturn 2 folder. This should make the presets visible in Saturn 1.

Please let me know if this resolves your issue.

I have tinstalled Saturn 2 twice because I have two separate Macs. One of them has the V1 folder presets the other doesn't, I don't understand why. Can any one help me resolve this issue? Should I just copy the folder manually? Then bring it to the other computer?

miquel

Hi Miquel,

Could it be that Saturn 1 is installed on one computer but not on the other? The V1 preset folder is only shown when Saturn 1 is installed.

You can indeed download the factory presets from the additional downloads page and move the Saturn 1 presets to your preferred preset folder.

How do you find user patches in fab filter I’ve created a bunch and need to move them over to another mac and can’t seem to find them anywhere

Please state the file path for “user patches” for fab filter software

Hi Miguel,

When you used the preset manager of the plug-in itself, the presets are stored in the default location. At the moment that's in your documents folder (User/Documents/FabFilter/). If you have been using the plug-ins for longer it's possible that they are in your user library (User/Library/Audio/Presets/FabFilter).
