Timeless Some comments
Hi --
I'm a customer of your Fabfilter Volcano and now Timeless products.
I was wondering - it would seem to me that in principle it should be possible to reproduce most - if not all - of the filter effects that Volcano has on Timeless, is this true?
Also - wrt the upgrade, I'd have preferred if you had kept track of us all, and thus offered the upgrade price to existing customers without having to have both things installed simultaneously. I can see me migrating most of my presets to Timeless and not using Volcano much.
Still - beautiful plugin - and a lot more intuitive to use than any of your others - and they aren't difficult to use.

I'm pretty sure you're right that Timeless can produce *almost* all the same effects that Volcano can. I was thinking about this before, and here's the differences I came up with:
VOLCANO
One
* Smooth
Raw
* Hard
* Hollow
* Extreme
Gentle
TIMELESS
One
Gentle
Raw
* Tube
* Metal
* Easy Going
(I assume these aren't just different names for the same filter designs...)

I already own Volcano, and I'm likely to buy Timeless too, given its reasonable price and excellent performance. But I do sort of wish FF would pack all the filter response choices into Timeless and give us an option to turn off the delay stage -- even if the result cost as much as the current Timeless plus Volcano combined...) It would just be nice to learn one interface instead of two.
Hi Chris and PaulSC,
Well, the big difference of course is that Timeless is designed as a delay and Volcano as a filter effect. So yes, it is possible to create Volcano-like effects with Timeless, but still: Volcano is easier when creating filter effects because it is designed for it.
I've also read on a forum that when you modulate the overall gain with the audio triggered EG, you get kind of a gate effect. However, I myself would rather use a dedicated gate effect when I need gating :-)
About the licenses: of course we have kept track of all of you, but we need to ensure that the license only works when you have actually bought an earlier product. BUT: you do not actually need to have them installed: when entering your Timeless license, you can also just paste your earlier license right under the Timeless license and that will also work!
And PaulSC, the filter characteristics in Volcano and Timeless actually differ, not just the names. We have experimented a lot with all characteristics and included the ones that worked best with delay effects!
Cheers,
What would be nice is a Volcano 2.0 that would include the new modulation matrix system. This would kind of make it more "universal FF design" together with Timeless and Twin.
Not to mention it would be insanely cool. :)
Also it could have many more filter types to make the upgrade worth while (though now I'm being just greedy, I think Volcano has more than enough filter types already!).
Cheers!
