Pro-Q3 sidechain won't work for me
Well I thought I knew what this was going to do, and would be easy, but I simply can't make this do anything.
I have two tracks.
Track 1 - with Pro-Q3 with sidechain enabled and sidechain selected in the analyser mode. I have also set up an EQ point with dynamic EQ.
Track 2 - I have another audio track sending audio to that sidechain.
I was expecting to see the Track 1 EQ 'ducking' controlled by track 2. But absolutely nothing different happens and the EQ ducking continues to only be affected by Track 1's own audio.
So what am I doing wrong?
I followed to the letter the help file here: www.fabfilter.com/help/pro-q/support/externalsidechaining
Cheers.

OK. I found the tiny enable sidechain button... :-)
Hi!
I might have the same problem. What tiny little button you're talking about?

First you need to make the band that you want to be controlled by the side chain input dynamic. Then enable manual threshold mode by clicking on the "Auto" button above the dynamic range ring. The external side chain button now appears to the right of the dynamic range ring. See the second screen shot on this page:

Cheers,
I've done everything that was said in this forum and still can't see the side-chain icon. I've actually done it in the past but for some reason I still can't see it. What am I doing wrong that it's not visible?
Thanks
I'm having the exact same problem as Erza. The sidechained track is visible in the spectrum but that button is not visible at all.
Im having same problem in Live 10. Side chain spectrum OK but I cant see the button to enable sidechain....
There is a little arrow pointing up, between the 'Gain' big knob and the threshold slider in each band settings. Click it to enable sidechain.
Hope you can find it :)
Also make sure your using the latest version :-)
Did anyone find a solution?
I am having the same problem, can see signal from the side chain on the spectrum, I know I have to click on Auto-threshold in order to disable it and I know where the side chain button should appear and what tit should look like. It's just not there!! I've tried using different audio tracks, relaunching my DAW as well as using a different project, still no luck. Sad face
I noticed in Cubase you have 2 instances in your VST / Plug in menu once installed.
If you choose FF ProQ as an EQ there is no side chain button, nor can it be made visible.
If you select ProQ from the Dynamic menu however, the side chain button appears.
Its very odd, not sure if its intentional or a bug - but thats what fixed it for me.
VST3 officially supports sidechaining, while in VST2 this was done with various hacks. You could distinguish VST3 plugins by /// mark on the right of it's name. Also in Cubase you could hide VST2 versions from Plugin Manager.
thats not how it is

I had this problem too. Sergey is right. It appears in the VST version of PRO Q 3 only.
Has anyone figured out how to use the external sidechain in the AU version for LPX? This is ridiculous. It's been well over a year since they incorporated this feature..I guess I'll just use other plugins, for now.
Hi Sean,
For Logic, select the channel you want to use as your side-chain source at the top right of the plug-in under the Side-chain dropdown menu. Then you create an EQ band with a dynamic function. Click the small "auto" sign above the gain know, which should show the threshold slider. To the left of the slider you will see a small side-chain icon, which will engage the external side-chain when turned on.
Cheers,
Sc Not reacting here too.
I am not seeing a drop down sidechain menu at all in logic
Hi Robert,
It's possible you need to enable all advanced tools in the Logic Preferences for the side-chain button to become available for plug-ins in Logic.
I see no side chain menu either. ProTools 2018, with Mac OS 10.13.6
