Delay with Pro-DS

Hi,
I got Pro-DS to take out bow noise from my violin - in real time.

Is there a delay with this software/vst? Since there was a "look ahead" feature, I assumed that if you didn't use that feature, the software worked real-time.

But when I use it, it seems like it's adding a delay to the sound???

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex,
when I place DS in ProTools it tells me that there are 760 samples delay. Using a sample rate of 48k gives a timedealy of 15ms.

I hope that this answer is correct.

Best regards

Franz

I have to correct myself.
The 15 ms are only with the Lookahead switched on (no matter what lookahead time I dial in). When this is switched off then the delay value in ProTools shows 0 (Zero)

Thanks Franz - I want to use this for a live performance. So it "seems" there should be no delay.

I appreciate that.

The lookahead applies a delay to the signal before being processed, whereas the key signal does not suffer any delay. Using a lookahead of 10 ms, the plugin will know the signal 10 ms before process it. Due to this delay, the latency will increase. If you use the plugin in real time, better disable it.
