Pro-L threshold concept question

Hi,

I was wondering why the Pro-L doesn't have a threshold parameter. Is it only able to slam things to full-scale and make things as loud as possible?

How can I brick wall a bus at -9dBFS for example without lowering the whole bus via the output parameter in the plugin?

Don't understand how I can use this for anything else than slamming everything to the maximum.

Please advise.

Thanks!

Frank.

Hey Frank,

I believe Pro-L was designed this way to give a cleaner look.

You can still achieve what you're looking for by giving a 9 dB gain on input, and and -9 dB on output.

This should behave exactly like a -9 threshold.

Lets say your signal reaches -8dB.
If you could set the threshold to -9 dB, then your signal would be 1dB higher than the threshold, and brickwalled back to -9.

But if your threshold is set to 0 dB, and you give it a 9 dB gain, then your signal should now be +1, and brickwalled back to 0 db.
All you're left to do is to give a -9 output and there you go.
