...another Pro-Q 2 feature request

Hi everyone! Love the new Pro-Q 2! I have a feature request. 1st, I am very excited about the match eq function in the Pro-Q 2! I was really hoping this feature would be included!

My suggestion is to have the ability to save eq profiles so that I could recall them when needed for eq matching. I would like to build a library of curves to make life easier. It would also be great to be able to share these curves with other Pro-Q 2 users. I especially would like to build a library of guitar, vocals, and final mixes! Any thoughts?

Here's another idea. Lets say I'm mastering an album and want to eq match it with another. I could scroll through some profiles of other songs from the same genre of music. I find the best one and select it, maybe even tweak it a bit.

Well, thanks for your time :)

Can you not just save your match EQ curve as a preset?

Ross

^ I was thinking the same thing, but I'm not sure the idea would work anyway, if I've understood it correctly: when you do the match thing, Pro-Q2 is taking the spectrum of your main signal, comparing it to the one in the sidechain and then creating a series of filters that will make that particular main signal have a similar spectrum to the one in the sidechain. Say that you have "Reference song X" in the sidechain and you save that as a preset.

Now, as soon as your main signal is different from the first, the preset "Reference song X" will NOT make this new main signal have the same spectrum as song X, unless by some cosmic coincidence, your new signal happens to have exactly the same spectrum curve as the one you used when you created the preset... Does that make sense?

Hang on Joe, I think I see what you're getting at now: what you want to save is the reference spectrum shape, so that you can match anything to it without having to play the reference song again through the sidechain and wait for its spectrum to build up so it can be compared... If that's what you mean, then I have to say +1, it would be a really cool thing to have...

YES Cabirio! Wouldn't it be great! Right now, everytime I want to match something, I have to pull out a cd, extract the song, import it into pro tools, then get pro-q2 to do its thing.

I'd like to be able to save a "reference" as a preset for later ...and easier recall!

This is already on our wish list for a future Pro-Q 2 update. We realized quite late in the development process that this would be cool to have, but we didn't want to delay the release any further...

Cheers,

Frederik (FabFilter)

Ahhh! Nice Frederik! Thank you! I'm already compiling lists of mastered songs different guitar tones, vocal sounds etc...! Woo Hoo! My Birthday is next week! I feel like I'm getting a birthday present from FabFilter! Thanks Frederik! Take your time for this feature. Knowing that its coming soon is good enough for me! It would be cool to have a section in the forum where users can share their reference presets!
