I paid for my FABFILTER plugins

I was looking @ UTUBE tutorials and checking out some other bundles of plugins by another manufacture, then came across this video which has a link. This is also the case for the other manufactures plugins. Not cool.

I didn't click the link in the description, so I don't know if the link is live or not. Just wanted to bring it to the FABFILTER team's attention.

I don't blame other manufactures like UAD/Ilok for having hardware connected to their plugin-code.

For anyone using cracked software:

It's not considered good etiquette to repost links like this so don't be surprised if this thread is deleted. If you want to notify the developers of such things, do so by email.

In any case, when it comes to audio software I tend to doubt much money is lost to pirating. I could be wrong but I imagine the majority of folks that use pirated audio software are teens or college kids who wouldn't have the money to buy the products anyway. Personally, if I am on the fence deciding between two products I will purchase the one with the fewest hassles. I support companies that focus on making their paying customers happy versus companies that create hoops for me to jump through while wasting time and energy focusing on those who don't/can't pay.

I do agree that software piracy is wrong, but self-righteous threads like this are kind of annoying. I wonder what other crimes we could publicly denounce...

Hi guys,

We are aware that there are hacked versions of our plugins available on the web... But there's really not very much we can do about it; software will always get hacked in the end.

Instead of wasting a lot of time fighting against this, we've chosen to spend our time on good customer support and plugin development, and keep our licensing system easy to use (no dongles etc.) :-)

Cheers,

Floris (FabFilter)

Thanks for staying dongle and Challenge/response free. I'll always be a customer because of it. :)

I 2nd that!

Me too, I actively avoid iLok hassles!
I have no shame in admitting I have been one of those "college kids myself but once things get serious, you pay for what you use. And FF makes great stuff, I'm a happy supporter!

Would it be bad to admit that seeing pirated plugs in action actually influenced me to buy nearly everything in the shop here? Even if you can get FF plugs for "free" somewhere, they're worth buying twice at retail.

I have an eLicenser and iLok that I'm forced to use for some of my software, and I hate the risk I have to endure as a consumer knowing that, at any moment, the shit they've got running in the background could muck up and crash my machine without warning.

That I can just power up my DAW and use the amazingly high quality stuff from FabFilter without hassling with hardware nonsense and paranoia-inducing "mandatory updates" is a godsend, and that deserves every cent of the investment and more.

Dear Floris,

don't take it personal there are other companies out there whose products are sub-par and they make them not really caring about the sale afterwards. At the same time they product isn't worth the price.
I just bought a piece of hardware that i learned about from one of those plugins. so believe me we will support you as long as its helpful.
