FabFilter Pro-G released!

Hi all,

We've just released FabFilter Pro-G, a gate/expander plug-in with flexible side chain routing options and a streamlined, well-designed user interface. It's equipped with linear-phase oversampling, mid/side processing, precise metering and more!

Cheers!

Great! I will be buying this. I really hate the fact that you don't show the price including vat though. I was looking at 74 euro's with my discount untill i went to my basket. That made me wait. I also don't understand why you list three prices? Why not just euro's and let the payment method covert. Now you are charging us europeans 10 euro's more than US dollars???

I will also be picking this plugin up for sure. I just watched the youtube demonstration and I have one minor suggestion that hopefully isn't much work to put in.

There is one element of the graph metering from Pro-L and Pro-C that I absolutely love. In addition to having the standard db measuring, there is also the line at the top of the graph indicating gain reduction. Pro-G doesn't have this but instead opts for turning the db measuring black for gain reduced sections (when the noise gate kicks in) and a darker version of the DB meter (beside the Attack and Release knobs), which is difficult to quickly glance at effectively in my opinion. I would like to see a gain reduction meter either similar to Pro-L and Pro-C, or even a second DB meter just for gain reduction.

Congratulations on yet another great release.

just read the manual. nothing on the trancegate fuction.

could you add that? i would like to know how that works.

Use a MIDI or instrument track and play notes to trigger the gate(enable MIDI), or use the external sidechain option like the guy in the video did to trigger the gate..

Grear plugin btw guy's, I'm finishing my latest track using it and then I'll review it here.. I'm planning on making a list for various FF plugin's containing improvements I'd like to see.. Win win situatie hé jonges?

Tip-top!

Don't you think this belongs in the manual!?

Cyphersuit

It actually is in the manual. The features of this plugin behave in a way that when you combine it with a creative and positive mind, some cool fx are possible to process your audio signal.

For instance, when you use MIDI notes on a track where this plugin is inserted on while MIDI enabled, the notes can be used to trigger the gate/expander. Or when the external side-chain is enabled and setup to trigger audio while the slaved track signals the internal sidechain.

Jovas

Thanks for that! Could you still point me out where to look in the manual for the setting up a trance gate info? like giving me a page number? that would be really kind.

cyphersuit

There is no specific page about the trance gate. But why don't you load up a project in your DAW, create a nice percussion pattern/loop, create a nice string and insert the Pro-G on your string track. Then in Pro-G expert mode enable the external sidechain, and go to the percussion track and set this up as the sidechain trigger in your DAW. Now adjust the the Pro-G dynamic, time and expert tools to finetune the gated/expanded signal of your (trance) string or whatever..

Just like the guy in the video did using Reaper as his DAW..

Jovas

Perhaps this has been recommended or is already supported by Pro-G, but it would be great to allow a configurable midi note on/off out for gate open/close events. This would allow for drum replacement, synced synth events, synced filter events, etc. So, in addition to MIDI triggering coming in, it would be great if Pro-G could MIDI trigger out.

Thanks for your consideration.
