filter characteristics

hi, the manuals for Volcano2, Twin2 and Timeless2 have the filters listed in the order of:

1-FabFilter One
2-Smooth
3-Raw
4-Hard
5-Hollow
6-Extreme
7-Gentle
8-Tube
9-Metal
10-Easy Going
11-Clean

but they are only in that order in Volcano2, while both Twin2 and Timeless2 have the filters in a different order

ok, so is it only me that noticed this?

it's just a bit annoying that i cant get used to instintively switching between different filter types because they are n different orders between the different plugins.

i cant see any reason why they should be in a different order, every other aspect of the plugins layout and design is uniform across the range

Hi Tony,

The reason that they are in a different order, is due to the fact the earlier versions of various plug-in contained various characteristics (and did not include all of them).

We've included all of them in various plug-ins after user requests; adding the new ones after the existing ones in each plug-in was needed for backward compatibility!

Still, we understand your issue, and we'll think about a way to improve this...

Cheers,

Floris (FabFilter)

They all sound so good, I have trouble developing favorites. Everything they touch sounds better as a result. I'm amazed at what I can accomplish with just Micro or Simplon, without any modulation. Anyway, thanks for trying to stay ahead of user requests.

What's next for Fabfilter? What are you guys working on?

ah, i understand the backwards compatability issue.
i can see that it is something hard to work around.

perhaps its possible for the gui dropdown and 'next filter' option to be changed, but under the hood to still be 'hardwired' in the same way? ie, although 'smooth' can be listed as 2nd, it is still secretly 7th

a question: which is the prefered order for the filters to be in? the one in the manual, as listed above?

i try to 'visualise' how the different filters sound and compare with each other, which ones feel 'related' to others, how they evolve from one to another
