bug? ProC SideChain Plugin in Cubase
Hi,
I have problems in Cubase 5.5.602 OSX 10.5.8, when I add a ProC (SC) plugin as insert.
Normally the Cubase-sideChain button does not appear. And therefore I cannot chose any channel to route a send-signal to the Plugin.
I had it once working (that the SC button appeared) but for a strange reason, this happened with the normal ProC plugin. I could then copy the instance and the button was there.
But if I only insert the proC (SC) plugin to any channel, there is no button to activate sidechaining.
Is this a bug? or is there a workaround to solve that problem?

Hi Patrick,
It's best to use the VST 3 plug-in in Cubase if you want to use side chains, because that enables Cubase's side chain button.
Otherwise, you can use the VST 2 Pro-C (SC) plug-in in Cubase, but with a workaround (you have to use it on a Quadro channel):

Cheers,
I am using Cubase 5.5 x64 with the 2.0.3 (vst3 - x64) demo of Twin 2.
I feel like I have tried everything... I an not able to get the side-chain button to appear when loading Twin (as an instrument track, or in the VSTi rack) I am aware that the side-chain button feature has been added to the Cubase 5.5 feature list, as it works with some of the plugs that ship with C5. I can not see this button however, when loading Twin? I am using the (64 bit) vst3 version... What am I missing?
Can anyone help me here?
Thanks much!
Hi sdub,
Cubase doesn't allow instrument plugins (even VST 3) to have a side chain. As a workaround, you can also use Twin 2 as an effect. So simply put it in an effect slot, route MIDI to it, and the input data from the effect channel will be used as side chain input.
Cheers,
Okay, great! Thanks, I suppose I was confused, because I had seen Cubase stock plugs doing it. Thanks for the response Frederick!
Hopefully Steinberg opens up that "side chain button" option for 3rd party plug manufacturers. Many of them, your plugs for example, are so much better than anything that ships with Cubase.
I also noticed the sindechain option on the Twin 2 audition button in Cubase 5. But like Fabfilter stated it isn't working, and one should use a MIDI track to trigger a Twin 2 instrument/side-chain track..
Have you guy's talked to Steinberg about VST3 instrument side-chain support? Would love to see that happen.. Currently I'm using a Volcano 2 for that purposes..
Thanks, and sorry for the hijack ;)
