Cubase 5 and Pro-c

Hello,

Is Fabfilter Pro-c compressor working with new Cubase 5 and cubase 5 studio? I heard something that about sidechaining. Pro-c working perfect with cubase 4 but it doesnt work with cubase when using sidechain. Some bug? or is that real? Have you tried with cubase 5 all versions vst3 sidechainig mode?

best.

Jonas

Hi Jonas,

Cubase 5 has a different "interpretation" of a part of the VST 3 specification than Cubase 4. This is why Volcano 2 and Pro-C currently don't work correctly in Cubase 5 (Twin 2 does work well though).

We'll release updates for Volcano 2 and Pro-C soon to make them Cubase 5-compatible.

Cheers,

Frederik (FabFilter)

Sounds Great. Im looking forward it...

When will it work with Cubase 5 ?

Tested it at a friend, who bought Cubase 5 as well and noticed, that the Controls of the compressor snapped back to their program-progged positions.

Under Cubase 4 he said it works perfect. I would like to buy the Comp because it seems to be more biteable then the Steinberg Comps

So please let me Know, when it works

Matthias

Hi Matthias,

The "snapping back" of the controls is exactly the problem in Cubase 5. We intend to release an update around March (it takes a little while because we have to make sure it's thoroughly tested).

In the mean time though, there's nothing stopping you from using the regular VST 2 version in Cubase 5. It even supports side chaining with a workaround:

It would be awesome if pro-c create own sidechain hosts even if the host software itself does not have that native capability. Simply open 2 channel and 2 pro-c and bridge them send and receive. We cubase studio users have no options to create quadro channel nfortunately. This is DAW's problem but if we gonna buy some 3rd parties stuff we should have that option without worries.

Best.

Thx for your quick answer !!!

So I will wait one month^^ I know the possibilyty doing sidechaining over groups as a long Steinberg-User. This is although the reason,i tried logic for me again and again over years but always had the problem that logic produced music with me and not me with logic :-)That´s the reason i bought me a hardware compressor with sidechain but i´m a fan of total integration and i don´t care discussions if real analog hardware sounds better then plugins. So let´s say, the day u tell us here it works in Cubase 5 i will be the first who orders it.

Greets and rock on

I expected the Pro-C to have a "sidechain" button just like the built in Cubase4 compressor but it's not there.

So sidechain is implemented differently in the Pro-C compared to Steinbergs compressor?

(I'm trying out the VST3 version of Pro-C on Cubase 4 Studio v4.52.)

Never mind my previous post. I've upgraded to Cubase5 yesterday and now everything regarding sidechain looks just the way it should.
