gain-q interaction problem...

finding this quite annoying...

love when im eqing with gain-q (basically proportional eq) engaged

but if im boosting, say 6db on a band, and then OPTION+CLICK on the gain knob to bring the gain back down to 0...the q width stays where it was instead of tracking back down with the gain. repeat this a couple times, and it keeps getting narrower and narrower.

any solution here?

Joe

Hi Joe,

Thank you for reporting this. That's a very interesting point. We'll resolve this in a future update. Unfortunately, we just released an update for Pro-Q 4 so it will take some time but this should be resolved.

Hi Joe,

I'm afraid this is expected behaviour. When Gain/Q interaction is enabled, the Q button will move along when moving the gain button and vice versa. However, this only works when you move the actual button or filter in the analyzer. It does not work when you e.g. enter in a specific value, or use the modifier to set the gain knob to zero. Basically the movement of the two buttons are linked, so it only works when actually moving the parameter.

Hope that clears it up.

gotcha, yea i understand that is whats happening in the plugin right now. but it doesn't have to be right? it could be linked to the value, not the movement of the knob right?

not necessarily a bug, just wish i could change the gain numerically and still reap the benefits of the proportional q. i actually cant see a reason why i wouldn't expect or desire this behavior if i have gain-q enabled.

thanks for your help ralph! appreciate the fabfilter support!
