L2 Limiter maximum peak reduction in mastering

What is you experience using the L2 limiter plugin at the mastering stage as far as the maximum amount of reduction in the transient peaks that we should stick to to avoid introducing unpleasant artifacts?

Thanks,

George

I think this will always depend on a number of factors, including the style of music, type of transient, duration of transient, what you personally consider unpleasant, etc. Anecdotally, I've had a few cases where a snare or perc had an especially loud quick transient spike and 10db or even more gain reduction during those transients was not unpleasant, but that was aggressive electronic music where a quick burst of extra noise during the drum transient was barely noticeable.
