Equal Loudness Curve for Pro-Q3

Hi,

After watching Dan Worrall's video about quiet monitoring, and the way he compensates for the frequency response, I was wondering if this could be done accurately in Pro-Q3 as well.

works for sure. You just need to dial in the equal loudness curve, which you could do for example by matching the one from the TDL EQ.

Hi,

I actually tried that before posting, but I'm not sure I was able to match it accurately.
The curves are a bit different.
I don't know if it's reliable enough.

Hi Yroth,

You could recreate the EL curve from the slick eq with Pro-Q 3's match eq functionality. Simply run some pink noise through the eq, and record that as the input signal. Now insert Slick EQ before Pro-Q 3, dial in the amount of loudnes compensation you are after, and record that as the reference. Pro-Q 3 will recreate the bands that have changed when inserting Slick EQ.

Hi Ralph,

That's great idea, thanks !
I do not own a license for SlickEq M though, maybe they have a trial.

Hi
To recreate -2dB equal loudness curve (very close to TDR plugin) i found these settings:

Band1
Low Shelf 12db/oct G1 (41.999Hz) GAIN +1.88dB Q=0.261

Band2
Bell 12dB/oct E7 (2637Hz) Gain -0.67dB Q=0.261

Band3
High Shelf 12dB/oct G10 (25088Hz) Gain +2.77dB Q=0.644

cheers
