Any chance we could get a "gate" option on one? That is to say, the ability to detach the envelope from the VCA and just use note-on/note-off to turn the VCA on/off? That way the envelope could be used to sweep the filter without sweeping the volume too.

Ah, it sound like you would actually like a second envelope generator. In that case: have you tried FabFilter Twin? :-)

Well, not quite. Just a simple on/off gate ... No attack, decay, or release. It's a reasonably common envelope-replacement-type thing on old simple one-osc synths.
