Use of pan pots with L/R Expert mode
The pan pots are exactly that, the linking. The gain controls just "tilt" the overall image of the sidechain. If you add more gain to the left channel, it will be compressed more, relative to the right channel.
Pan pots set linking and gain just adjust the "tilt".
For instance, in mid/side mode the pan pots separate mid from side and the gain knobs decide which one dominates, mid or side. It is quite common for the mid to have much more energy than the side channel so in this situation if you want the side channel to be compressed independently and equally much to the mid channel, you then have to either lower the gain of the mid channel or rise the gain of the side channel.

Hi there -
I am very impressed with Pro-C and getting my way around it.
I am trying to understand the L/R setting in Expert mode.
What is the function of the pan pots?
It seems like there is no change in the audio whether the pots are both at zero, or pointing away from each other.
I understand what linked and unlinked Stereo is but since we have independent gain controls for the Left and Right channel (in L/R mode) what are the panning pots for?
Thanks for any clarifications.
Cheers,
Eitan
