Compression Trouble
It's very difficult to say something about this without having the audio to work with. You could send us an email using the Contact us link at the bottom of this page with an audio snippet and Pro-C 2 preset so we can try to have a look at it.

I'm working on a single percussion sound, and I'm having a problem I can't seem to solve.
I have Pro-C 2 set up to make the transient very spikey and suppressing everything else (so very squashed, fast attack, slow released) -- which is exactly what I want.
The problem is that it has a lot of trouble catching the "first" hit in a series. That is, when the compressor first encounters the sound, it can't seem to compress it (it will kick in on the very next hit). If the hit goes silent for awhile and then re-appears, the same thing happens. The first hit is uncompressed, and then it starts dealing with everything else.
I thought that fiddling with lookahead would fix this, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.
What am I doing wrong here?
