Using sidechaining compression on Pro-C2 as an attack rather than just to duck

Hi all,
I'm currently writing a track that involves a very long sustained distorted kick. Because of this, I have no way to apply compression at the beginning of each kick as there isn't enough of a volume change for the plugin to 'reset' and press the attack again.

I noticed that Pro-C2 has a sidechain module, however, this only seems to work as a way to set up ducking.
Is there any way to set up an incoming signal as the source for the compression action? To use one source for the compression's normal function but apply it to another track?

That is, I want to use a very short kick set at the beginning of each note as the source, so that it gives an attack to each one of the distorted kicks.
Essentially the ducking is the exact opposite of what I'm trying to do.

I realize I could bounce a single sample and use that, but I am automating several other parameters throughout the song before the distortion and this would not be possible with bouncing the kick.

Let me know if this makes sense to you - I realize it may be confusing!

Thanks!

M Darling
