The new "HOLD on 1st PEAK" feature that every engineer would want

Theres a certain situation which every mixing engineer encounters very often, but no current tool seems to address this issue yet:

You have a percussion track with a very specific envelope shape that you love, you want to compress the dynamic range of the overall performance, but you absolutely dont want the compressor to touch the shape of the individual hits, (the way the attack and the decay is shaped).

So i came up with this idea which i call: "Hold on 1st Peak" where the compressor would hold the gain reduction during the entire hit, thereby preserving the shape of each hit but stil compressing for a more consistant performance.

The current Hold feature available, only applies before gain reduction goes into release stage which is usefull for hit strats with a sudden transient and goes downhill from there, but there are percussive hits starts with a relative gradual uphill before going downhill.

Could you you explain with a real world example please? This sounds interesting, but I feel like you can already do that with a duplicated track, offset and supplying the external side chain so that it 'misses' the first hit. Could you not just have the attack set slower?

Also, what you're really asking for is a modulation section added to the ProQ2, which Fredrick has replied in the past saying they are not going to do this.

Maybe a great new plugin for FF would be the "Pro Mod" that interacts with all of their Pro line of plugins and could let the user get as geeky as they want.
