ProQ2 in-line latency bug: Changes w/ sidechain (Pro Tools)

Hi -

I'm Working on a mix in Pro Tools, using EQ matching. Here's a repeatable scenario:

Pro Tools HD 11 Native.

- Place identical audio on two adjacent mono tracks, identically time-aligned.

- Insert ProQ2 on each channel

- Play back the session. You've added 6dB gain, but otherwise the sound is identical.

- On ONE of the ProQ2s, select a sidechain input.

- Play back. The audio on one channel is delayed relative to the other. Checking delay compensation display, the reported delay is identical between the two instances, though one is taking longer to pass the audio.

This caused a good deal of head scratching this evening, until I discovered the cause ;)

Hi Jeremiah,

Thanks for reporting this problem! I can indeed reproduce it (), and it definitely sounds like an issue in Pro Tools to me! Of course, changing side-chain input should never affact the delay or delay compensation...

We will contact the Avid PT devs about this!

Thanks,

Floris (FabFiter)

Great glad you could repro it!

It was helpful to finally realize what was going on (and thus solve it...) As I had adjacent film dialogue tracks w/ different mics but time-aligned, and they were sounding phasey.
