My suggestion is a processing unit for the modulationsection for fabfilter twin but some others are useful, too.
It is good for pads or rytmic-changing sounds.
The idea: Modulation material is processed like audable signals; with feedbackdelay, a shaper, an envelope follower and different modes.

It has one "input" nob, that can be actuate(or driven) by any other modulation-source. Two outputs, one positiv one negativ. One Pan-Output could be realized, too(1.possib.-to controll the pan-ring of the modulation-destination(ping pong delay with two delaytimes, predelay(=phase)) or 2. possib. -to distribute between the positive or the neg. output).
The Delay is clocksynchronous or free.
One nob controlls how much of the dry-input- amplitude is transcribed to the delayline and wether it is added or subtracted(could be StepLFO- modulated).
The shaper can do much; it can change a fluently signal to scales of the circle of fifth. or round a linear slope to a logarithmic or exponential growing line.
The envelope- follower is useful to quit down a signal.(hard(100percent attack 0percent release) to soft(vice versa) Or reverb(80percent release))
At last there shall be two modes. One that end a delayline with a new key and one that go on freely
One additional mode to stop dry input to delayline during the sustain(or do this with automation).
Because knobs can be automated, too, with envelopes or step-LFOs there are many things and forms possible. Its not like the existing reverb, because you are not repeating the whole sound.
PS A limiter could limit the possible amount-range.
