New Update Bug on AAX

Hi, I just updated all my plugs to the latest versions but I found a big problem using them in Pro Tools 10.3.2 (I've done some test also with AU version and there it doesn't happens)

The problem is that if I have MIDI learn on, everytime I hit the space bar to stop playback all the settings I've done are deleted or totally changed: for example with Pro Q if I set a Bell on 2khz when I hit the space bar to stop playback (and only to stop) the same band is changed to a Low Shelf around 80hz and this happens to all band if I have more than one.

While o Pro C everytime it loads a new preset and opens the Expert panel.

It's happening on all plugins if I have MIDI Learn Om, with the previous versions this never happened!

I'm on OS X Lion 10.74 and using Pro Tools HD-X 10.3.2

Hope you'll solve this soon, I use this plugins everywhere and and everyday, I cannot open anymore old or big sessions because due to this issues all my settings could be lost!!!

Many thanks in advance for kind support, best regards

Alex K

Hi Alex,

Thanks for reporting this! Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce the error here.

Could you try to install the previous versions again, and see whether that indeed solves the problem again. Just to double-check that it's a problem in the update... thanks!

Hi guys,

It would be great if you could e-mail us a simple session that shows the problem, because for now, we can't reproduce this behaviour here... @teis: what was the problem with the previous total bundle installer?

Thanks,

Floris (FabFilter)

i installed the bundle, and during protools booting a sign came up saying it could not find authorization for all the fabfilter things i don't have(fair enough) and signalgennerator ( a avid thing) and a couble other plugs(well, hmmm ;-) ).
never tried that one before.

as to mail a session with the problem ,i would love to,but i installed the previous pro-q so the problem is kind of fixed.
pro-q is my go-to eq for sure and it's getting better all the.very nice.m/s and all.

kind regards

Hi
Reporting a very weird Pro-Q behavior after the update.
I still don't know what exactly is triggering it but following some action I've made, something like duplicating a plugin etc., ALL Pro-Q's used in the session loaded up a preset.
In one session I saw all Pro-Q change their setting to preset 'drums' and in another session 'low shelf'.
I am in a middle of a mixing session so I had to roll back to the older version and the older version (1.13) seems to work fine.

Ok I've done some testing and here is what happened in detail step by step:

[Everything with this configuration: Pro Tools 10.3.2 on HD-X system over OS X 10.7.4]

BEFORE THE LATEST UPDATE everything was Working PERFECTLY!

AFTER THE LATEST UPDATE all the AAX plugins started to have problems ONLY WITH MIDI LEARN ON like Pro-Q resetting all bands, Pro-C loadings new presets and opening the expert panel, Pro-G as Pro-C but lowering the volume too etc… this happens on ALL PLUGINS every time I hit the SPACEBAR to STOP PLAYBACK.

REINSTALLED PREVIOUS VERSIONS FROM YOUR LINK and everything was WORKING PERFECTLY once again, no problem on all Plugins and with MIDI Learn ON.

REINSTALLED LATEST UPDATE and the problems CAME BACK as before!

I've done a last test to see what could happen on a Copy of a Completed Session (always with same version of Pro Tools) and this Time EVERYTHING WAS WORKING AGAIN PERFECTLY WITH LATEST VERSIONS AND MIDI LERAN ON!

After Loading an Old Session I had no more problem and honestly I don't know the reason… so I've done one more try before with the Old Versions (working flawlessly) and with Latest Version which still presents problems on a New Created Session.

So seems that after opening an Old Session or even Importing tracks from a completed session everything starts to work again…

I hope that this can be a temporary solution for who wants to keep working with the latest version while we wait for an update, but honestly I'm keeping MIDI Learn OFF just be safe for now.

I hope also that all the details of my experience can help to Investigate and Solve this Problem :)

Thanks for the Kind support & Best Regards.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your thorough testing! We're looking into this problem at the moment, and we'll certainly fix it in an upcoming minor update.

Unfortunately, we can't reproduce this behaviour at all on any of our computers running Pro Tools. Could you e-mail us at info@fabfilter.com so we can discuss this in a bit more detail?

Thanks!

Just some quick questions for people experiencing the issue in Pro Tools where plug-ins load a random setting/preset when hitting the space-bar:

  • When the error occurs: whats the bank/program number of the preset that is suddenly loaded? You can view bank and program number by choosing Options -> View Bank/Program Numbers from the preset menu,
  • Do you have any MIDI controllers attached in your setup? If so: which ones?

Thanks!

Floris (FabFIlter)

@Floris answering your questions:

1) The Presets that are loaded are random and for me it happened only on the Pro-C, Pro-G and Saturn (I don't Have Timeless, Micro and Simplon).

The only constants are the Expert Panel that slides to open in Pro-C, Pro-G, in the Pro-Q all the bands are converted in Low Shelves around 80Hz (here no preset issue) and on Saturn, Volcano and Twin the parameters are messed up in a specific position.

2) In my setup I Have only a Master Keyboard (Oberheim MC1000), with the previous versions never had problems.
I also disconnected it, but the problem occurs the same way.

Hope it was helpful :)

Many Many Thanks for the Support!

Alex K

I forgot about the Pro-DS: it gets Messed up like Saturn but without loading any Preset.

Thanks Alex!

Please e-mail us at info@fabfilter.com and send us a small session that displays the problem if possible.

Thanks,

Floris (FabFIlter)

I just emailed you a small session where the issue is still present!

BTW it disappears every time I import tracks or data from another session.

Many thanks once again for the support, hope it will be helpful ;)

Alex K

We could reproduce the problem and will fix it very soon!

Cheers,

Frederik (FabFilter)

Glad to hear it :D

FabFilter N1 as always!!!!

Many thanks & have a nice day ;)

Hi there,

Just wanted to say that I'm experiencing this problem as well. After loading a session it's alright at first, but sometimes after the first playback all instances for Pro-Q suddenly change to the "Low Shelf" preset.

The new graphics are awesome.

As a temporary workaround you can disable MIDI input (click on the arrow next to MIDI Learn and click Disable MIDI).

Cheers,

Frederik (FabFilter)

Thank you for the work-around. Looking forward to the update.

Hi guys,

We can confirm that we've found the bug and that it will be fixed in an upcoming minor update soon!

Floris (FabFIlter)

Just to add to this thread - any settings that have been changed in any of the updated plug-ins are forgotten whenever A.) the plug-in is made inactive and reactivated, or B.) the session is closed and reopened.

Pro Tools 10.3.2, Mac OS X 10.7.5

I have no MIDI devices and no recorded MIDI (simple VO session)

Let me know if you need anything else for testing!

Jordan @ Avid

I'm definitely experiencing this same bug here ... Pro Tools 10.2, aax plugins. I'm just going back to the old Fabfilter versions and making sure none of my settings have gotten messed up (major ordeal). Maybe the RTAS version is fine? I'm not sticking with the update to find out! Hope it gets fixed soon, this could be a great update with the GPU enhancements.

Dimitri

We are working on a fix and will have this available next Monday (December 17) most likely. In the mean time, you can disable MIDI input to circumvent the problem (click on the arrow next to MIDI Learn and click Disable MIDI).

Cheers,

Frederik (FabFilter)
