MIDI learn Volcano

Hi!

I'm just playing around with the demo version of Volcano and really like it a lot. I'm gonna buy this one!
Anyway, I'm using Cubase SX3 and was wondering how to get the midi learn to work. I've read the help and it says to make sure the MIDI light is flashing when sending MIDI-messages. It doesn't flash so I can't use the function. I've mapped some things with the generic remote in cubase and can assign faders on my controller to specific rotaries in Volcano and that works, but would love to get the learn function to work.
Any suggestions?

Hi goose,

Well, as you said, the first thing you have to do it ensure that the plugin is receiving MIDI messages.

If the MIDI light on Volcano doesn't flash, Cubase isn't routing the MIDI signal to it. I'm not a Cubase specialist, but there is certainly a way to route MIDI to Volcano!

I will pass the question on to an SX3 user here to find out how to achieve this...

Cheers,

You need to create a new MIDI track in Cubase, and set its output to the instance of FabFilter Volcano that you'd like to control. If you then activate that track and press notes on your keyboard, the MIDI light should flash.

If you'd rather like the MIDI events on an existing MIDI track to go to Volcano as well, activate that MIDI track and expand the Sends section on the left. Set Volcano as one of the destination, with no MIDI effect in between.

Hi guys,

Really appreciate your replies. I had already figured half of what you mentioned above, but now it all works. I forgot to make a MIDI track first. Was kinda sleepy at the time ;). Going to play some more with the demo and might get this one! Thanks.
