Volcano 2 LFO retirgger?

I have an instance running on a midi track in Ableton but can't get the LFO to retrigger. What's the secret?

I've tried the little midi icon to the top right of it but it doesn't work.

Dave

Hi Dave,

The MIDI icon in the XLFO enables retriggering on note on. Is Volcano 2 receiving MIDI messages? (You can check with the small light in the lower left corner.)

Cheers,

Hi

I'm having the same issue.

I have Volcano 2 on an instrument track in Logic 9. The track is loaded with Albino 3 which is triggered from MIDI data recorded in the arrange page / piano roll.

It would appear that Volcano 2 is not receiving MIDI messages as the light in the lower left corner is not coming on at all. Neither does it light on any other instance of Volcano 2 that I load on to different tracks.

Presumably this setup would qualify to retrigger the XLFO?

Am I being dumb? Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Fellow Logic 9 user here, I might have the answer for you Chris, assuming that Volcano 2 is being used as an insert on a Software Instrument track (Albino 3).

In order to get midi info into an effect (as opposed to an instrument), you'll have to create a new Software Instrument track, and put Volcano 2 on that. Note, the plugin would be under Midi-Controlled Effects instead of Midi Instruments.

After that's done, you'll need to get audio to it from Albino through a sidechain, but since Logic doesn't let you sidechain from software instrument tracks, you'll have to use an effect send to a bus that you won't be using, say Bus 50, and set the output to the new Aux track to "no output". Then go back to Volcano and set the sidechain input to Bus 50, and that should be it.

What this gives you when you're all setup will be 2 midi tracks: one to run Albino 3, and the other to run Volcano 2.

Hope this helps
