Twin 4 Feature Requests

Firstly, I want to say that Twin 3 is simply the best at what it does. It's simple, straightforward, fun, and sounds amazing. I can quite confidently guess that the intention of it wasn't to be an all in one synthesizer like Serum or Pigments, and that the goal was always simplicity.

However, I think I and a lot of others believe it can retain its simplicity while also being more fully featured. It has the potential to outright replace a lot of other synths on the market right now, if given just a little bit more love in a hypothetical Twin 4 release. Here is a compilation of all the most requested features I've read from others on what this ideal "Twin 4" might feature, in order of requests from users (that I've seen):

1. FM / AM / PM: Even if implemented quite simply, having the option on multiple oscillators would be an absolute game changer. No need for a giant matrix or giant algorithms (it's not a dedicated FM synth, after all), but I believe having these 3 features would compliment the nature of the synth incredibly
2. Reorderable FX: I feel like this is a must. Also while we're at it, a flanger, comb filter, and bitcrusher would fill out the fx to include all major basic fx!
3. Ability to switch analog drift on and off
4. MPE Support
5. Per Oscillator Unison
6. More ways to manipulate the oscillator. No need for full on wavetables or anything like that, but something like Hard/Soft sync, waveshaping / folding, PWM on more waveform types, bit reduction/downsampling. I think there is plenty of room on the oscillator interface for a couple more options like this!

Small things I think would be nice:
- More bands on the EQ (maybe 6 instead of 4!)

I don't think Twin 4 needs to be a wavetable synthesizer or some kind of granular sampler or anything like that. I think some more "analog" controls, still in a simple UI style, could go as far as making this the definitive modern-analog synthesizer, replacing the likes of Diva or others. Either way, Twin 3 is my main "do it all" synth for sound design, mostly because it's so simple and flexible. I and many many others would love to see what it could do with a few more features.

Thanks for the feedback, let's see if we can incorporate some of that in future updates. For the near future (this autumn), we do have an update with MPE support planned.

Cheers,

These are excellent requests. I would also request:

1. A per voice panning option
2. Multi touch* (iPad)
3. Improved touch tracking (iPad)
4. Background audio option for standalone (iPad)

*Note
With regard to iPad multi touch it is currently implemented only for fine adjustment. However, this conflicts with the benefit of performing on an iPad which ostensibly gives the player manual control of whatever they can get their fingers on simultaneously. I would suggest that fine adjustment be activated only when 3 fingers touch the screen close together (away from the on screen keyboard) leaving a fourth finger to do the fine control. This way other multi touch actions which do not meet these conditions perform as expected.
