No MIDI learn in Pro Tools 9 except Instruments?
Hi,
So my problem is I am able to assign MIDI controls to Twin 2 or One but I I can not assign any MIDI controls to the rest of the filter and effect plug-ins like Pro-Q or Volcano..
I hit MIDI learn, I hit on the knob, there appears a red frame and thats it, no response at all to my controller.
I am using m-audio Axiom 49 by the way, the original one, not the new one.
Can anyone address the issue please?
Thank you very much in advance..
also what happened to the fab gear? :)

First off, PT can only route midi to "Midi" or "Instrument" tracks.
Secondly, it can route midi to only 1 plugin per track. Obviously you want that to be the VI (Twin or One in your example). So the plugins after that can't be controlled by Midi. Technically you could, but then no midi would go to the VI, so no audio through the track. Which makes it useless. A Midi track doesn't have an audio stream so that's pointless to begin with...
The only way to get around this in PT is to use a "Mackie HUI" device, "Euphonix Eucon" device, "M-audio Directlink" device (newer Axioms (pro) or Oxygen models" or a "Novation Automap" device. Or one of the dedicated Avid Protools controllers. from control|8 to Icon.
These can all integrate into Protools to control every plugin parameter on every channel and much more.
Pro Tools doesn't like generic midi on anything but virtual instruments.
Thanks for the answer Marc.
It's just annoying that since Ableton and Logic can do a MIDI learn trick easily in audio channels, Pro Tools just can't support it even with a new version
